Summer fly fishing 23'

Its been a hot one out there but you know we stay on the fish. Stay hydrated and get up early or maybe even go nocturnal! Also wanted to add we have a fleet of kayaks now and can handle large paddle groups trips half, full or a multi day adventure. Fall is around the corner and we cant wait. Cooler temps, big flies and hungry fish. Get on my calendar before its to late.

Bass fishing is in its summer patterns with the mid day heat being relatively slow especially on the lakes. Sections of the Brazos river are still running great and keeping fish active near current even some decent striper action. As stated get up early, fish late and maybe even in the dark. The creeks with flow and some tree canopy are also a great option especially for light fly rods with the longear and spotted bass not minding the heat so much.

Bowfin can be a little easier to find this time of year with less water and decent clarity in most of the places i target them across Texas. I have options around Dallas, Houston and different parts of east Texas. Tie on a crawfish pattern and pole the lake flats or your nearest swamp and just call me ill pole ya!

Alligator gar have been a hit and talk about an ass kicking on a 12wt fly rod. Come test your skill and try targeting alligator gar and large longnose gar with a fly rod. Its a great way to get your ass kicked! I have blind casting and sight fishing options in a few areas across the state come catch your biggest fish ever and do it with a fly rod.

Carp have been loving all the bug activity and are perfect for the sleep in a little guy. Hitting the late flats around 9 am and getting off the water by noon has been the play with the heat of the day being a little slower. Once those flats get over 90 degrees theyre out of there. The river stuff has carp active most of the day but can still be less fish active 2 to 5pm.

Southern Arkansas could use some rain but were still find hungry smallmouth eating topwaters and streamers throughout the day maybe down size flies in the low clear water as well. Find flows and youll find better fishing but rivers like the Ouachita and Caddo are running about 30cfs as i type this so easier said than done. Dont let the low flows scare you though it beautiful in the Ouachita’s! For full or multi day paddles or floats hit me up and lets go on an adventure.
