Houston area fly fishing report 3/5/2020

The Houston area White bass, Yellow bass and crappie run is in full swing and they aggressively taking flies. This should continue a couple of weeks but thats probably it after that. so dont miss your chance to catch a ton of fish on a fly rod! All is not lost though the Spotted bass turn on as the run slows.

With that being said Bass, Bowfin and Carp are all in pre spawn mode if not already spawning, in the Houston area and across Texas. Its starting to be a great time of year for sight fishing and streamer stripping. A lot of big Bass are being caught as we speak. Still cant wait for some popper fishing were not far away now and even on the warmer days weve got into a little topwater action.

Urban fishing has been on fire as far as carp goes. Tilapia are still being funky but Grass, Common carp and Buffalo have all been on the concrete flats and feeding slash spawning. On the right days the bite can be down right stupid.

Its the best time of year to be out fly fishing and catching at the same time!

Also wanted to add that im also offering guided fly fishing trips the Dallas/Fort Worth area now. The fish are firing up here to so if you find yourself in North Texas Lets go fishing! Striper/hybrids, white bass, carp and bass are all on the “menu” here.
